Report by Richard Sansom

100 archers arrived at our Sansom Wood site in the middle of Sherwood Forest, situated near Papplewick Pumping Station, to be greeted by a quite windy day. Many new, and returning archers from all over the country were soon booking in and queuing for their breakfast. We managed to complete all the formalities, get people out to peg and start about 10.30.

A course of 36 x 3d’s had been set out in our woodland with all groups proceeding around the course until mid afternoon. We operated a ‘shoot through’, but many archers were able to stop and take in refreshments as they passed catering 2 times. Keeping warm was the order of the day because of wind chill factor.

Many of our competitors made positive comments about the setting of a shorter but challenging course, which had been enjoyed by all.

Well done to our course layers and also many thanks to our team of club members, who along with all you visiting archers made it a very worthwhile and enjoyable day.

Duvell - 13th November 2011

There were four of our members went along to Duvelle’s woods on Sunday, Barry Buckley, Rob Hardy, Derek Smith and Myself. The weather was a bit dismal but it stayed dry all day which was good. It wasn’t too cold and it was quite calm. Perfect shooting weather.

Our hosts had put on a great shoot as usual, and we all had a great day. It was a wooden arrow shoot so Barry and Rob had managed to get some sticks together in time for the shoot.

Although Rob had only tried his wooden arrows once round our wood, he had a fantastic day scoring 598 which got him 2nd place. Well done Rob.

Gold for Rob @ Spirit of Sherwood

On Sunday 7th August six archers from PPA attended the Spirit of Sherwood shoot. Barry Buckley, Mick Dews, Rob Hardy, Trevor Watson, Derek Smith and Winnie Smith. We all enjoyed the shoot and had a great day but only one of us came away with a medal, that was Rob Hardy with a great score of 770 and 10 spots, which earned him the gold medal.
